Redevelopment of 2-4 The Pavement, Clapham
The Monteagle Barlow Trust is preparing a planning application for the redevelopment of 2-4 The Pavement in Clapham – the building currently occupied by Iceland and Vision Express.

The existing building is unsightly and out of character with its neighbours, with weathered and discoloured bricks, barred windows, wall-mounted electrical and ventilation equipment, and low-grade shopfronts.

We are consulting local residents on these proposals before submitting a planning application, so that we can address any concerns that you may have and take into account your views before we finalise the designs.

The proposals
The map to the left shows the site outlined in red.

The proposals include:

-
1-3 ground-floor shops with storefronts on The Pavement
-
Some new studio office space
-
18 new homes with access from Bromell’s Road
-
Homes in a mix of sizes including 3-bed family homes
-
Four storeys facing onto The Pavement, with an additional storey at the rear of the building
-
Removing the noise and odours currently caused by deliveries to Iceland's service yard
How the development currently looks

How the new building would look
Access to the new homes would be from Bromwell’s Road, changing the rear access from being a service access for Iceland deliveries to a more quiet and secure residential access in keeping with the character of the local area. In addition to a secure gate to provide secure access for residents, we are proposing new subtle lighting at ground level to prevent light spill into nearby windows.

This diagram shows the height of the new buildings next to the existing properties.
How to respond to this consultation
Before we submit a planning application to Lambeth Council, we want to hear your views on our proposed development.
